Trunk Side Recording

Trunk Side Recording is available on any type of switch and compatibility is not an issue as the Teltronics Praetorian voice recorder connects directly to the incoming ISDN lines (E1’s). In almost every case the switch can provide additional call data (date/time/extension/dialled number etc) via a feed called SMDR (Station Message Detail Report) usually collected from the switch via a serial connection or over TCP/IP. The Teltronics Praetorian voice recorder then marries this call data with the relevant call recording.

This type of recording can often be the most cost effective way of recording large numbers of extensions as we supply recording cards to cover the total number of ISDN lines, which in a typical scenario would be less than the number of phones on site. This recording type enables all incoming and outgoing calls to be recorded without investing in a recording channel for each individual phone.

Another key benefit to this type of recording is the ability to record your entire customers call. You will be able to record all segments of the call, even if this call is transferred to multiple different agents; this can often be referred to as ‘cradle to grave’ recording.

Choosing this type of configuration means no internal calls will be recorded. The Teltronics Praetorian voice recorder will connect to your incoming lines; this can substantially reduce the amount of storage space required as the system would not be recording the day-to-day internal call traffic.

As with any Teltronics recording platform the above diagram is not restrictive. We can provide ‘mixed tap’ recording systems which can be an amalgamation of Trunk, Station and VoIP recording types.
